Clinical Program

Jefferson Trail holds a deep belief in the potential of every individual to meet his or her therapeutic goals. Jefferson Trail uses an empowerment model to help residents become active participants in all aspects of their treatment throughout the residential, educational and clinical programs.

Family on Mountain Top Residents at Jefferson Trail progress at their own pace through a level system. Each level provides both opportunity and challenge. Monthly treatment planning meetings provide residents with individual feedback and goal-setting for the upcoming month. The clinical program provides a variety of opportunities to meet those goals:

  • Individual therapy (three times per week)
  • Psychiatric services provided by a board-certified psychiatrist
  • Family therapy
  • Psychoeducational group therapy
  • Adolescent issues group therapy
  • Substance abuse education and treatment
  • Life skills group therapy
  • Expressive art therapies (art, poetry, journals)

The therapeutic approach at Jefferson Trail is eclectic, including cognitive/behavioral, dialectic, rational emotive, attribution, and family systems therapies, among others as needed. An eclectic approach means that the right tool is available at the right time for each person, so residents can be successful and return to their communities as soon as possible.
