Educational Program
Our Philosophy
At Jefferson Trail, we believe that education is a tool for success. We want our students to develop a genuine love for learning and to realize that school can be worthwhile and rewarding. We encourage our students to take advantage of the time that they spend in residential placement by developing education goals that will assist them with their future school and career choices.
Our Staff
Our staff will work with each student to help them achieve their goals while also fostering a deeper understanding of their future. Our teachers help students recognize their strengths and to use those strengths for their individual development. Learning objectives and personal education goals are what each student strives toward achieving each and every day as both an individual and as part of a classroom team.
Our Curriculum
The Jefferson Trail staff will also work with students on basic reading and math skill development as well as expand their knowledge of the world through exposure to the arts and sciences. The Virginia Standards of Learning and the Curriculum Framework, which can be found on the Virginia Department of Education website, guides Jefferson Trail's curriculum for each course at our school.
